Its been a tough six weeks for contestants in the biggest UK Talent Show, but this week finds the X-Factor hopefuls in one of their hardest challenges yet...bootcamp bitches.
In a cruel twist, judges Tulisa Constavolas, Kelly Rowland, Louis Walsh and Gary Barlow met in secret to review all the auditions once again deciding they had let through several acts who simply did not deserve to be advance to the bootcamp stage of the competition. Meanwhile the clueless contestants party the night away and Frankie does a little bit extra.
Fast forward to the next morning and in amongst the hangovers and regretful shame of the previous night's antics, the core four arrive to divide the troops into four groups...one of which they send home claiming they aren't ready yet. Rage.
Tears, tantrums, goodbyes, and new beginnings as the judges pair off the remaining acts into mega groups to perform hit tracks by Cee Lo, Jessie J, Florence and the Machine, Katy Perry, The Script and Lady Gaga. What follows is a mixture of strange auditions with not a lot actually standing out.
Oh and then people who should be staying in the competition...get the boot. (Math's teacher John anyone?) Meanwhile acts who really will not have a career or a fan following for that matter are given that crucial step closer to achieving what is definitely a non-realistic dream for some. (The old scary man who sang At Last and that Goldie Looking Cheung woman) So 187 became 30 in two 90mins slots. Not bad going.
Perhaps the best part was of course the ultimate reveal of who judges what. I'm happy to say I fully predicted the correct judging outcome. Kelly got the girls. Tulisa got the groups. Gary was given the boys and Louis is lumbered with the overs. Better luck next time Louis.
Week Seven jets off to the judges expensive houses in which Jennifer Hudson, Jessie J, Robbie Williams and Sunita all star as guest judges to help their famous friends decide who makes it through to the live finals.
If you can't wait until next weekend for your X-Factor fix, tune in to ITV2 on Thursday and Friday for all things US X-Factor which is proving to have quite a talented turnover.
