There's a new show on the block this week kids as E4 launch 'Funny Fursdays' packed with hit shows The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother, but the real highlight of the event is new comedy drama Happy Endings.
Trailers for the premiere would have you believe the show revolves around one man (Dave played by The Hitcher's Zachary Knighton) getting jilted at the altar by none other than The Girl Nextdoor herself, Elisha Cuthbert who plays runaway bride Alex.
Having watched the first five episodes of the series I can say it is much, much more than that and here is why. To put it simply its about every single one of them. Not a single character outshines the other, each showcasing their own key traits whilst ultimately all forming believable on screen chemistry at the same time...oh and its funny too.
Desperate to find love Penny (Casey Wilson) is sensational to watch. Straightest gay guy ever Max (Adam Pally) is a refreshingly realistic take on a young gay man whilst married couple Brad (Damon Wayans Jr.) and OCD Jane (Eliza Coup) prove to be a perfect laugh out loud match.
With a more mature, sarcastic outlook with nothing feeling too forced or over compensated, Happy Endings could very well be the modern day Friends we have all been anxiously waiting for ever since Rachel Green stepped off that plane.
Happy Endings airs Thursday nights on E4 at 10.30pm. Season 2 is about to kick off on the other side of the pond airing on ABC.
