Buffy's Back On TV in New Show Ringer

That's right folks, the Chosen One has returned. Sadly not to reprise her role as Buffy the Vampire Slayer but Sarah Michelle Gellar has returned to play not one, but two lead characters on the small screen for new CW show Ringer.

Gellar takes on the challenging parts of twin sisters Bridget Kelly and Siobhan Martin who lost contact as a result of Bridget's damaging behaviour. Now a recovering alcoholic, Bridget sets out to mend old wonds only to find herself stealing her twin sister's identity following Siobhan's apparent suicide.

From the outset of the pilot episode it is clear Bridget's had a tough life. A former stripper, prostitute, drug and drink addict now on the run from cops and a mob boss who wants her dead. By the end however it seems the apple doesn't fall far from the completely messed up tree with the reveal of Siobhan's less than perfect life.

A secret, steamy affair with her best friend's husband Henry (played by Kristoffer Polaha who starred alongisde Gellar's fellow Buffy/Angel alumni Eliza Dushku in Tru Calling). A seemingly loveless marriage to husband Andrew (Fantastic Four's Mr Fantastic Ioan Gruffudd) and a pregnancy to boot. Oh and someone wants her dead too. Bound to be one set of proud parents somewhere I'm sure.

The questions just keep rolling in by the time episode comes to a halt, especially the big reveal of a not-so-dead Siobhan So you drugged your twin sister after telling her you forgive her, then you fake your own death leaving her alone on a boat in the ocean. Nice. Anyone else heard of this thing called theraphy? Aww well I'm just happy SMG has gotten out of the house and hasn't stumbled into a ridculously low budget horror film.

The show premiered on September 13, paired with 90210 on The CW Network on a Tuesday night. Ringer is penned by Supernatural writer Eric Charmelo alongside co-executive producer Nicole Snyder.
