Cupcakes

I have been getting loads of cupcake questions over the past couple of weeks and thought that I would post some pictures of my faves!
Do you have a favourite cupcake flavour?

Disney Princesses

On my trip to Anaheim, California I filmed a video with THE Michelle Phan!! *deng deng deng* She's the 17th (last time I checked) most subscribed youtuber so it's a huge deal!!

Initially we would just reply each other on twitter sometimes but when she asked if I'd like to collaborate on a video with her I didn't even believe it was going to happen until the moment she reached my hotel room. I thought she'd cancel or something!! Don't blame me I've just met a lot of irresponsible people in life. But she didn't!! (I was in Disneyland for a press junket. Think I cannot say what yet. If you are smart you can probably guess? Pretty glaringly obvious lol)

I was apprehensive about meeting her (I'm always apprehensive about meeting people coz I rarely like people hahaha) but it turned out we got along so well and had so much in common so that was awesome!!

AND we had so much fun filming this video!!! We were Disney princesses - She's Ariel and I'm Rapunzel from the new Disney movie Tangled! (In Singapore the working title is Rapunzel: A Tangled Tale)

Check it out!

A lot of people seem to be confused about Rapunzel's make up since she is so new, so here are some pictures of the newest Disney princess. She's my VERY FAVOURITE.

So much blonde hair jealous max

Although her make up looks subtle it's actually not!! She has a golden tan, with ginormous green eyes framed by loads of lashes especially lower lashes! She has freckles, bushy brows, coral cheeks and just a hint of lip colour. She has cascading blonde hair and a damn cute chameleon as a pet too. Someone in the comments said "Rapunzel didn't have a frog". It's a chameleon!!!

Ahem. Back to the topic. How? Did Michelle do a good job duplicating the look or WHAT??

And don't forget to subscribe to Michelle's awesome make up tutorial videos here.

Secret 80s fan - Episode 11

Little Katrina, aged 5-6, standing in the living room in Adelaide; mum in the kitchen cooking and radio plays this song.....I am pretty sure it was a silver radio.
Don't you just love it when songs remind you of specific points in time? This one reminds me of that everytime.....
Do you have songs that remind you of the little things like that? What are they?

Cosmos (30 OCT 2010)

On 21OCT I had to scrape ice off my car windscreen. I realised that the routine of checking on the progress of my flowers after work was over.  The first noticeable effect of the frost in the garden was that the cosmos petals crumpled. I'll miss the cosmos swaying gracefully in the wind and brightening up the autumn scene. Mrs. F had given them to me as seedlings. I'd looked them up in an

Italy- last of the little ones

I finally received the larger panels yesterday from Ampersand... so I've begun the larger paintings to finish the show.

And... I can tell you.. I am ready!

Ready to be done with it... ready to wrap it up... ready to move on.

It's been a fun year.... painting all the wonderful memories and places... but I feel a pull towards watercolor and some different imagery.

I'm not sure quite what yet... but I know it will come.

#33 - First Game Done for 2010-2011 Season

I knew I had to include my Sens somehow in my 101 List, so I decided to commit to attending at least 3 games per season throughout my 1001 days, which I've figured equals 9 games total over the next 3 years.

I hope to get to many more than that - I just love being at Scotiabank Place supporting my team! - but 3 per season is my minimum goal.

Last night was my first game of the 2010-2011 season. Chris bought a 12-game pack for the year, and he offered to sell Luke and I tickets to three of those games. The first one on tap was last night's tilt against the Florida Panthers. Luke already had tickets to the game, so I had a spare ticket, and I invited Sarah to come along with me, knowing she's also a Sens fan!

The seats were great- second row of the third level, in the corner of the Sens' end. I was so relieved to get there. I'd been having a crummy couple of days, just feeling down and in a rut, and honestly, my hopes weren't high for my team.

The Sens have struggled in the early going of this season, and on top of that, I very rarely get to see a Sens win live. It's amazing how few wins I've seen over the years, in the many, many games I've been privileged to attend. I've been trying to think of when I last attended a Sens win at SBP, and I think it was the time they beat Montreal when I went with my uncle and cousins, and I met Wade Redden's brother, who was sitting behind us. So we're going back to 2008!

My family thinks I'm a jinx when I attend games, so I had them all well warned, especially with my recent crappy luck, not to expect big things from the boys in red, black & gold last night.

I was pleasantly surprised :) A nice 5-3 win, with some awesome goals from the likes of our captain Daniel Alfredsson (PRAISE ALFIE!!), Mike Fisher, Alex Kovalev, Milan Michalek, and Zack Smith. They actually led the Panthers 5-1 mid-way through the third, but Florida potted two late in the game to make the final score seem closer than it really was.

The Sens played very well, and for the first time this season, they were able to string together back-to-back wins. The panic is slowly subsiding...And things are finally starting to look up for this team.

A great night at SBP, and Game 1 for #33...Check!!

Suzie Dickinson - 19 Steps

Suzie Dickinson's cd plays during our deli mid-morning to keep all the customers happy and calm. Alan and I went to see her a few months ago when she was releasing her new album and she is extremely talented and I just LOVE LOVE LOVE her music. (Dave, the producer, you are pretty awesome too!)
Suzie just told us recently that this was on youtube.com and I just had to share it with you all!

TUILLE SKIRT AND OTHER THINGS

Detail of work in progress

Detail of work in progress-taken at an angle

The two images above are details from a large painting I am currently working on. My thoughts are about the creation of the Universe, or maybe seeing another Universe...with the idea of 'Universe' being about our external physical world, as well as our internal emotional/psychological world. Regular readers will identify with my play between the distances of the nano and universal, intimate and vast, macro and micro. In whatever case, my VORTEX ideas are propelling me. The VORTEX gives me the energy to tunnel in all directions! I have written about my VORTEX ideas previously...here is a link that will also take you to other VORTEX links too http://kathrynbrimblecombeart.blogspot.com/2010/10/knowledge-of-stillness.html

But, before I leave the VORTEX...just a reminder that my solo show opening 22 February 2011 is called VORTEX. As you can see from the images above, my much loved transcultural/religious tree-of-life is my visual conduit into the life propelling realms of the VORTEX.

IN MY STUDIO
In this post, I have decided not to dwell too much on ideas, theories...heavy stuff. Instead I thought I'd upload some images of my studio and me.

Here I am in my studio where I paint my works on paper. I share this room with the hot water system and the fuse box. It is actually a kind of non-room, so it's perfect for making a mess in.

Here are some works on paper in progress. Regular readers will possibly see that these are the beginnings of some of my 'water' paintings. That is if they don't end up ripped to pieces because I am not happy with them!

Here I am in my studio where I paint my oil paintings...well... it is actually the garage and I share it with a lot of other things, but not the car because I have a carport for it. As you can see I do not have any flash studio furniture. Indeed an old washing machine suffices for a bench! The good thing is that I don't have to be 'precious' about anything.

And, here I am loading a big painting onto the roof racks of my car. Needless to say I do not travel long distances with paintings on the top of my car. However, around Brisbane it is ok, except when wet! Of course, on the odd ocassion I have had to collect my children from school, with a painting atop the car, I have been a complete and utter embarrassment! No-one elses mother has something as conspicuous as a painting wrapped in bubble wrap atop her car!

And now to a photo to show that I can 'glam up' a bit too. Here I am in an outfit, part of which I made! The black top is actually a gorgeous corset which I bought. It 's meant for underwear, but I thought it was beautiful enough for outer wear! [Now I won't go into what my kids said about that!] The tuille skirt and shawl are both made by moi. The shawl was easy. Just a length of tuille with little pink bows randomly sewn all over it. The skirt took a bit longer, because it has layers of pink and brown tuille attached to a lycra band, which I also made.

So that's it for today. Some lighter-note things, which I hope people enjoy seeing.
Cheers,
Kathryn

SO JI-SUB

So Ji-sub (born November 4, 1977 in Seoul) is a South Korean actor. It was 1997 when So Ji-sub modeled for a jeans brand called "STORM" and first caught the attention of Korean fans. From here, he debuted as an actor in the Korean sitcom “3 Guys, 3 Girls” and joined the circle of Korean celebrities. In the following year, he remained active in the entertainment industry through dramas, movies, and commercials. Although his roles in dramas in the late 90s, such as “Model”, were small, his popularity grew, and by 2002, he obtained one of the main character roles in a famous drama called “Glass Slippers”. While played the role of a gangster falling in love with the main female character in the drama “Glass Slippers”, more fans found him attractive and talented.
In 2004, he was cast in two immensely popular dramas called “What Happened in Bali” and “I'm Sorry, I Love You”. This really brought him to the center of the spotlight in the acting industry as he began drawing attention from not just Korea, but from all over Asia. The drama “I'm Sorry, I Love You” especially made him stand out from the crowd, and his achievements in acting was rewarded with several awards.
Unfortunately, his career was interrupted by his mandatory service to the Korean military. By April 27, 2007, he completed his duty to the Korean military and came back to the entertainment world with a movie called “Rough Cut”. In 2009, So landed the role of Lee Cho-In in the drama “Cain and Abel”, which later became a big hit.
