Nicola Roberts: 'Cinderella's Eyes' Album Review

Nicola Roberts fundamentally represents a modern Cinderella story in today's music industry. Gone are the days she steps out in rags cleaning up after Cheryl Cole and Sarah Harding throwing up in bins, (watch Girls Aloud Off The Record) taking jab after jab from the media portraying her as the 'ugly one'. Instead we have a confident, sexy, glamorous and downright amazing pop-star in her place with debut solo album 'Cinderella's Eyes' more than reflecting this.

The 12 track heavy cut serves as Nicola's pride and joy from start to finish with the backing of Diplo, Metronomy and Dimitri From Paris, Team Ginge finds her own feet swiftly letting her lyrics and heart-felt vocals do the talking.

Standout tracks include the infectious 'Yo-Yo' which was set to be the lead single until 'Beat Of My Drum' took over, current single 'Lucky Day', Met's 'I' and Gameboy Advanced sounding 'Take A Bite'. Powerful ballad 'Porcelain Heart' is still my personal fav with Nicola shinning phenomenally on the vocal front with haunting melody and instrumentals to back it up.

In a nutshell, you'll like this if you liked Lily Allen, Robyn, Florence and The Machine,Ellie Goulding and Kate Nash. Its fun. Its energetic. Its quirky with a touch of sophistication. More importantly its real with Nicola co-penning every single track bar one cover song.

Nadine Coyle? Take notes. Cheryl Cole? Step outside again? Nicola Roberts...well done.

The fantastic album is available in all formats from September 26. Current single 'Lucky Day' is out now.
