Given the current Nationwide outbreak of snow these last few days, one would not think the season of Spring is almost upon us. One man who would beg to differ would of course be a man I met on the tube whilst traveling on Saturday evening on route to Soho. A man, who was displaying the most amazing arrangement of spring pallets I have yet to come across in all of London's stylish haunts. Let's call him Mr GQ.
I'm calling him Mr GQ. I don't know his name and I couldn't successfully take a photo of him as he was sitting directly across from me and it just would not have gone down well. He looked like Lenny Kravitz if that helps to paint an accurate picture. I literally could not take my eyes off him as everything from his floral peach shirt to his worn brown leather loafers and equally used snake skin doctor's bag commanded undivided attention.
After all Spring/Summer 2012 is full of romantic floral prints finding inspiration from the vibrant 70s era adopting light, soft, sensual colours in the process. Mr GQ opted to pair his peach-floral shirt with mint green tapered chinos rolled up at the cuffs allowing himself to showcase his equally peach light woolen socks. Genius.
Paired with tan worn leather loafers, a heavy woolen brown tweed overcoat and a dark brown vintage snake skin doctor's bag complete with a broken clasp.
Take note guys...don't do anything short-sleeved and don't sport any majorly large floral designs. Keep them simple, small in print and make sure the colours are not drastic or loud. Nobody wants to see it. Its all about toning the prints down but keeping the neutral shades alive. As for Mr GQ. Thanks for walking into my life and brightening up my night. In the words of Dante from Sex and the City the Movie 'Feel free to drop by...anytime'. ;)
