Book Review: Miracle on Regent Street

So my ethically eco-friendly crafted goodie-bag from the Good Fashion Show contained an interesting read. Miracle on Regent Street.

Evie Tyler is the stockroom girl at London's now forgotten traditional department store. The once grand and inviting Hardy's. A place Evie lives and breathes until she overhears the owner and store manager discussing its foreclosure unless profits increase by 500 percent in the run up to Christmas.

Enter Evie and her fantastically creative and innovative visual merchandising mind. Taking it upon herself to make-over each and every single department within Hardy's. Transforming tack to takings every step of the way as Evie recreates the traditional glamourous and stylish store Hardy's once was. There's only one problem...Evie is doing it in secret.

Why? Because she's invisible. Nobody even knows her name. Sure they stop by to lay out all their troubles of the day at any given opportunity. But nobody actually bothers to ask Evie what's going on in her life. Until she adopts the mantle of the sexy and stylish new Floor Manager Carly after she pulls on a designer jumper and is mistaken for her by the man of her dreams. Hot-shot American Joel who wines, dines and treats Evie to a whirlwind romance. But how long can she pretend to be Carly and how long can she stay hidden as Hardy's Secret Elf?

Bursting with talent and determination from the outset, Evie Tyler is a true joy. Not to mention both likable and loveable from the word go. I literally could not put it down over the course of three days as I turned each page wanting to know Evie would land the success she deserves and the man to go with. Sam, the caring, handsome delivery guy and aspiring photographer. Oh yeah and for Hardy's to triumph in a miraculous Christmas trading boom.

Written by ELLE, Red, Cosmopolitan, Company Magazine and Glamour fashion writer Ali Harris, Miracle on Regent Street is a magical read from start to finish. Miracle even had me picturing a number of actresses who might play Evie on the big screen someday. My money is on Felicity Jones. I called it first. Remember that.

Miracle also comes with an added Vintage Shop Directory in the back pages for all the Evie Tyler's out there looking for those Vintage frocks. The book was originally released in October 2011. Miracle on Regent Street by Ali Harris is available to purchase now on Amazon from £3.88.
