The Life and Dresses of Whitney Elizabeth Houston (1963-2012)

Sleeping peacefully on my pull-out sofa bed, one black cat attempting to climb out a window, one grey cat pining for processed food. This is exactly what was occurring the moment I was informed of the great Whitney Houtson's apparent and untimely passing.

Needless to say one cat was thrown out the window and the other thrown into a room with a fresh batch of Whiskers. Neither was harmed during the process. Nevertheless the news was true. Singer, actress, producer and model Whitney Houston was sadly found dead underwater in her bathtub late last night. Reports state the chart topper may have been drinking and fell unconscious as a result of mixing alcohol with prescriptive drugs. A toxicology report will confirm the cause of death in four-six weeks.

Following the official confirmation the social networks of Facebook and Twitter were a hive of activity with updates and tweets regarding thoughts, opinions and inappropriate humor in regards to the I Will Always Love You singer's death. A song I apparently frequently sang whilst swimming as a young child. I'm sure that went down well with my father.

The Voices of this generation of course reacted accordingly. Close friend and collaborator Mariah Carey tweeted "Heartbroken and in tears over the shocking death of my friend, the incomparable Ms. Whitney Houston. My heartfelt condolences to Whitney’s family and to all her millions of fans throughout the world. She will never be forgotten as one of the greatest voices to ever grace the earth."

Christina Aguilera posted "We have lost another legend. Love and prayers to Whitney's family. She will be missed." Rihanna kept it short and sweet tweeting "No words. Just tears. #DearWhitney" and Cee Lo Green offered "R.I.P. Sister WHITNEY HOUSTON!!!!! We will always love you."

Posting on her official website, Beyonce Knowles released this statement "The loss of Whitney Houston is painful. I remember meeting Whitney for the first time when I was 15. She was the ultimate legend. The ultimate woman. Not only was she confident, poised, stunningly beautiful and intelligent, but she was sincere and kind. She took the time to make everyone feel like they were very important to her. I, like every singer, always wanted to be just like her. Her voice was perfect. Strong but soothing. Soulful and classic. Her vibrato, her cadence, her control. So many of my life's memories are attached to a Whitney Houston song. She is our queen and she opened doors and provided a blueprint for all of us. God bless her."- Beyoncé

Whilst the Houston family said "We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Whitney. This is an unimaginable tragedy and we will miss her terribly. We appreciate the outpouring of love and support from her fans and friends." – The Houston Family.

Whitney Houston racked up a staggering 2 Emmy Awards, 6 Grammys, 3o Billboard Music Awards and 22 American Music Awards. To date Whitney sold over 170million albums and singles on a global scale. Her songs timeless, her looks radiant. Whitney Elisabeth Houston we will FOREVER love you.
