The Grammys Red Carpet: The Good, The Bad and the Nicki Minaj

The 54th Annual Grammy awards took place at the Staples Centre Los Angeles last night and amongst the sad news of Whitney Houston's passing, the stars came out in force to celebrate the industry's phenomenal talent in her memory.

Unfortunately by force we mean five people actually looked half decent whilst the rest failed miserably and Nicki Minaj pretended to be a religious Red Riding Hood turning up with a Pope by her side. Talk about inappropriate.

It wasn't all bad of course as our very own Brit superstars Jessie J and Adele shined at the bash. Jessie sporting a metallic mirrored gown and Adele a black full length sequined number respectively. Keeping the metallic trend flowing, beautiful country singer Taylor Swift shone in a gold embroidered evening gown with her gold flowing locks pulled tight in a sophisticated bun. My personal favourite was the stunning Alicia Keys in a short, shoulder padded black mini complete with a gold triangular collar choker. Who Run This Motha? Alicia Plays the Piano Bitchin' Keys.

Other noteworthy glamazons go to long legged beauties Kelly Rowland in a nude floral number, Rihanna rocked her new blond hair in a black sexy thigh revealing gown, whilst Paris Hilton donned a white silk piece complete with gold embroidery.

However with every one good dress, sadly came five what the frock were you thinking alternatives. Fergie in an orange lace disastor in which her black underwear could be seen. Katy Perry looked about 45 in a horrible baby blue granny styled gown deciding to match with equally horrible turquoise blue wig. Another star who followed the same suit was Kelly Osbourne in a similar dress with equally similar and equally awful grey/white/silver/dire hair. Then there's Snooki. Nothing more needs said on Snooki.

Due to the disastrous amount of woefully dressed individuals at this year's Grammys I feel its only fitting to close with the remarks of one internet user who goes by the name of My Big Salami who commented via TMZ's news site. "I've seen better dresses at WalMart". Preach.

Take a look at Jennifer Hudson's phenomenal tribute to Whitney Houston at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards in the clip below.
