Kris Smith, model and former professional athlete and footballer has launched what is destined to be another successful career, in media.
Kris has established himself as an extremely popular and recognised face around Melbourne and the world and has since expanded his media experience. May 2010 saw Kris score the much coveted television presenter co- host role on Foxtel’s break-out hit Australian reality series 3, Football Superstar. This year he has also co-hosted The Fashion Television awards, as a guest co-host on Australia’s Top Model with Sarah Murdoch and guest on the panel of Foxtel’s Cup Fever with Santo, Sam and Ed.
Kris Smith was born in Salford, Manchester on 20th August 1978 and started playing rugby league at 14. He was quickly signed to Leeds at the age of 15 and in spite of serious injury setbacks went on to play for a number of leading UK clubs through his teens and into his 20’s.
Kris established himself as a star player going on to represent Great Britain against France and then was contracted to play before retiring from the game at 29, due to previous injuries.
After retiring from professional Rugby, Kris worked closely with underprivileged kids and was soon signed to a leading UK model agency due to his unique look, down to earth manner and growing interest from the Fashion World.
After meeting partner Dannii Minogue, Kris arrived on a visit to Australia over the Christmas of 2008 and quickly came to the attention of Australia’s leading model representation group, Chadwick Model Agency. At the same time Australia’s top department store chain (Myer) approached Kris to become the men’s face, appearing regularly on the runway and at media events with their female ambassador, Miss Universe - Jennifer Hawkins.
