What a week. First a Batman teaser poster, closely followed by a teaser trailer and with Entertainment Weekly getting the Spider-Man treatment via Andrew Garfield taking the cover I don't think my inner and outer Geek could take much more...enter The Amazing Spider-Man trailer.
The clip, which originally debuted at Comic Con, premiered online yesterday and having already raked in nearly half a million views on Youtube alone, does not disappoint. Director Marc Webb previously commented that the reboot would focus on a younger Peter Parker coming to terms with his parents death...something touched on from the word go as a young Peter says goodbye to his mother and father for what is most definitely the last time.
Fast forward to Garfield stalking the high-school hallways, pretty convincingly I might add considering he is 27, as what could only be described as a tortured soul. This is further cemented by a rather awkward dinner at Gwen Stacey's pad...Mary Jane who now? What really captures the eye however is the final scene in which Spider-Man takes to the skies in what is sure to be an amazing 3D experience. I do feel the City itself appears too CGI for my liking...but I'll reserve judgment for now.
Garfield has been a fan of our favourite web-slinger since the age of four...only time will tell if The Social Network star has what it takes to live up to the mantle.
The Amazing Spider-Man hits screens in 3D July 3, 2012. Check out the web-tastic teaser trailer below.
