New Years Eve Watermelon Carving

I  was inspired to carve a watermelon for the New Year celebrations when a friend gave me a home grown monster.  I thought I was being pretty original until we went to get a couple of melon ballers the day before New Years eve.  One shop had two left!  So much for originality.  I then thought the melons shape would be pretty easy to carve.  Mind you, the last watermelon I carved was for the engagement party of my first marriage, ummmm....31 years ago.  So much for thinking!
Please enjoy our very lopsided creation.   The lovely lady to the right looking very serious is my daughter-in-law.  The cute blonde in pigtails is my granddaughter.

Cheers!
