Happy Feet Two Review

Elijah Wood returns to voice Mumble the dancing penguin in George Miller's Happy Feet Two as his penguin chick Erik (Ava Acres) struggles to find his own individual talent in the Emperor Penguin Nation.

Following an embarrassing debut amongst a penguin dance/rap/song mash-up, Mumble's son Erik fights with his father and takes off to pastures new alongside his fluffy friends Atticus (Benjamin Flores Jnr) and Brit-chick Boadicia (Meibh Campbell) who also happens to be a free runner. Antarctica's Got Talent or what?

Once the trio are led to the Mighty Sven (Hank Azaria), a Penguin who can fly aka a Puffin, by Robin Williams who returns to voice the characters of both love-lusting Lothario Ramon and eccentric Guru Lovelace, little Erik believes he might have a new talent in life. Flight. Something Mumble, who finally catches up with the three penguin runaways, definitely does not agree is possible trying desperately to get his son to realize his true potential along the way.

However the threat of Global Warming rears its ugly head and with the polar ice caps beginning to melt, an extremely large iceberg cuts the Emperor Penguin Nation off from the ocean leaving their families trapped with no hope of rescue. Until all the Penguin tribes, a few humans and ultimately an entire beach of Elephant Seals that just happen to be from Australia all lend a hand in saving the Emperor Penguins from their doom.

Five minutes in and you will be holding back the tears. Baby penguins and baby elephant seals should not be allowed to cry on screen people! It's just unnecessary. Fortunately the tears come few and far between with hilarious escapades had by all. Watch out for Erik's solo singing debut...it truly is priceless.

Happy Feet Two also stars Pink who delivers tune after tune throughout as Mumble's wife and Eric's mother Gloria whilst Brad Pitt and Matt Damon turn up as the hilarious shellfish duo Will and Bill. Two ambitious Krill hoping to jump up the food chain. They also might be a little bit gay.

Not as brilliant as the first installment, Happy Feet Two is adequate enough to warrant a watch or two if not for Will and Bill alone but for all the added polar ice animated antics that come with them.

George Miller's Happy Feet Two is out in cinemas now. Take a look at Elijah Wood, Pink, Robin Williams, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon in animated action via the trailer below.
