Emeli Sande Wins Critic's Choice


Scottish RnB/Soul artist Emeli Sande has been awarded the prestigious Critic's Choice Award in the run up to this year's 2012 Brit Awards.

Emeli has written tracks for a number of various UK artists including Tinie Tempah, Cher Lloyd, Cheryl Cole and Leona Lewis with Simon Cowell claiming she is one of his most favourite current songwriters. She also features on Professor Green's UK number 1 'Read All About It'.

In an interview regarding her nomination for the award, Emeli stated "I've dreamed of winning or even being nominated for something like this my whole life, having a BRIT Award would be a massive dream come true so it's absolutely incredible to be nominated." She also discussed her debut album's sound "There's going to be a lot more intimate moments with just me and a piano and getting back to my songwriting roots."

2011 saw the phenomenal and relatively unknown Jessie J walk away with the award and look at her now. Emeli Sande released her first solo single 'Heaven' back in August 2011. Her debut solo album entitled 'Our Version of Events' is scheduled for release February 13. Emeli Sande is set to tour in April.
