Holiday Re-Cap

On Christmas Eve the entire family got together and opened presents at my parent's new home just six houses down from where I live. It has been such a blessing to have them so near. My son had 10 days of leave from the Army - so he was able to be there too. We had our first non-traditional (for us) meal - Lasagna, Penne Alfredo, Salad and bread. Dessert was Pumpkin Pie, Apple Pie, and Pecan Pie. It was a GREAT meal and may become our NEW tradition.
On Christmas Day my brother in law made his special breakfast casserole which was YUM-O! Having a breakfast meant that the rest of the day was available for enjoying the outdoors and some much needed imaging making (aka picture taking). Hubby and I traveled to Bisset Park in Radford, Virginia where we saw lots of birds and almost had them eating out of our hand - literally. That is where we saw this little Carolina Chickadee. After Bisset my Mom and oldest Sister and I went for a walk around the Virginia Tech Duck Pond. There were lots of Mallards and Canada Geese.
This was one of the best Holidays I can remember!

Mourning Dove - Golden Moments

The golden moments in the stream of life rush past us and we see nothing but sand; the angels come to visit us, and we only know them when they are gone.
~George Elliot

Enjoy the Golden Moments of Today!

Mockingbird and Autumn Bokeh

May the sun shine all day long,
everything go right and nothing wrong.
May those you love bring love back to you,
and may all the wishes you wish come true!
~ Irish Blessing
About the image: Mockingbird on the fence - Taken 11-03-11 along Deerfield Trail - one of my favorite walking trails. Shooting into the sunlight is not always a good thing - but I liked the bokeh that developed in this one. For more info on Bokeh - click HERE

Summer Dragon

Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever... it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.

Birdie Bokeh - Friday Feathers

Light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography. ~George Eastman

Holiday Bokeh

Something a bit different in honor of the Christmas season ~ A Christmas Ornament from our tree. I used the Macro lens, it was dark, and the lights were bouncing off of the ornament which made for some pretty neat bokeh.

Light gives of itself freely, filling all available space. It does not seek anything in return; it asks not whether you are friend or foe. It gives of itself and is not thereby diminished. ~Michael Strassfeld

Wednesday Wings with Summertime Bokeh

Tuesday dawned dark and dreary and Wednesday will be more of the same. We are expecting 2-3 inches of rain with wind. So I thought I would share a summertime image! As much as I like the monarch butterfly, I think I like the background bokeh in this pic just as much.
Wishing you a bright and sunny day!

Kind hearts are the gardens, Kind thoughts are the roots, Kind words are the flowers, Kind deeds are the fruits, Take care of your garden And keep out the weeds, Fill it with sunshine Kind words and kind deeds. ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
