Gossip Girl's Got Game...Finally

After several dull seasons (known as two, three and four) it seems the CW's hit teen drama revolving around the scandalous lives of Manhattan's Elite might just be back on track. Now airing episode six of the fifth season over in the US, Gossip Girl 5 is buzzing with scandal, schemes, sex, betrayal, secrets and lies. Everything that made the first season so spectacular.

Gone are the pointless additions of Vanessa played by Jessica Szhor, (I voluntarily cough every time I say her name because I'd rather contract TB than watch another episode with her pointless character) and Hilary Duff and in their place is frigging Liz Hurley! Cougar of the year.

Another welcome addition is the return of Serena's cousin 'Charlie Rhodes' aka Ivy (Kaylee DeFer) an actress who has adopted the role of Charlie to clutch onto the life of the Upper East Side. Pair that with Blair's impending Royal nuptials to Prince Louis Grimaldi of Monaco and a mini baby Waldorf or better still Baby Bass on the way and you have yourselves a winner.

More importantly, the season has so much going on with all the main characters all at the same time that branch out in several directions and yet it flows fluently from one episode to the next. Now all we need is Georgina in the mix. Maybe Lil J walking in on Blair's big day as an added bonus. 'Any objections?'...In walks Taylor Momsen and her woeful hair extensions. 'Sorry B. Looks like Lil J wasn't banished after all. Long live the Princess.xox'

Then there's Lonely Boy and his big bad book based on his life from rags to riches alongside his billionaire buddies who aren't quite so pleased with their portrayals. All in all, captivating stuff.

Gossip Girl Season Five premiered September 26 and airs in the US Monday nights at 8pm on the CW. Season Five will feature 24 episodes.
