H&M Announce New Designer Collaboration

Off the bat of their immensely successful Versace for H&M collection created by outrageous Italian designer Donatella Versace, H&M have announced their follow up collaborator...drum roll please...the Italian fashion label Marni.

Founded in 1994 by Consuelo Castiglioni, who is still Marni's chief designer, Marni was named after Consuelo's sister and began with a new modern twist on fur clothing. Eventually developing other lines offering everything from dresses to eye-wear and expanding into menswear launching its very first Men's collection in 2002.

Castiglioni's fashion house is well known for its color blocking, prints and patterns much like the previous collaboration with Versace and much like the Versace for H&M, Marni will be going back to basics to create the perfect high-street Marni exclusives.

Castiglioni stated, "I wanted to create a true Marni wardrobe by revisiting all our favourite pieces in signature fabrics and prints. As always, I love juxtaposing prints and colours, mixing modern tribal with Bauhaus graphic, adding sporty utilitarian elements,"

H&M's Creative Advisor Margareta van den Bosch stated the collection arrives at the perfect time with the press release adding:

"H&M is proud to announce a spring designer collaboration with the Italian brand Marni...its Founder and Creative Director Consuelo Castiglioni has created for H&M a spring collection for both women and men which capture the essence of Marni."

H&M's previous collaboration with Versace sold out within hours and caused their online shopping site to crash in mere minutes. H&M's new Marni collection will be available in 260 selected stores and online March 8 2012.
