Barely 24 hours after her single hit the airwaves in full, Girls Aloud star gone solo Nicola Roberts has premiered her first ever solo video for the Diplo produced 'Beat Of My Drum' which serves as the first to be lifted from upcoming debut album 'Cinderella's Eyes'.
The Guardian called the track "a major lazer-style bratty dancefloor stomp", interviewing Roberts who stated "I'm so proud of it. I can't believe its mine. It just feels like me." Does the video reflect this? Yes and No.
Sadly its a low budget affair for reasons I cannot fathom, that being said the gorgeous red-head pulls off the choreography playfully, nudges at possible hidden swagger reeling you in with the confident, catchy, funky chorus. (L.O.V.E DANCE TO THE BEAT OF MA DRUM) YEAH!
Ever the Fashionista, Miss Roberts naturally does not disappoint on the fashion front sporting two looks throughout the feel-good clip. A cropped patterned all-in-one complete with matching shoulder padded jacket. Her other look features a heavy knit dress/jumper in edgy colour blocks.
The video also showcases on trend Summer color combos serving to constantly keep viewers interested. If something bright and colorful always pops up on screen in some shape or form be it a dancer or a sofa odds are you are gonna look in its general direction.
Overall verdict? Its no 'Fight For This Love' but its certainly miles ahead of 'Insationable' (thank God). The video is fun and artistic with a great song to go along with it.
'Beat Of My Drum' video premiered on UK television this morning on T4 and is available for download today plus amazing bonus b-side track 'Porcelain Heart'! Nicola's album 'Cinderella Eyes' will be released in the Autumn. Check out the funky, feel-good video below.
