Cher Lloyd. The two words that sent X-factor UK 2010 into a whirlwind of controversial chaos has returned and Cheryl Cole's little protege hasn't come back empty handed.
Signed to Simon Cowell's label Syco, the X-factor finalist has previewed a snippet of her debut single 'Swagger Jagger' a catchy radio-friendly number, but will it kick-start the singer/rapper's career or throw her to the lions?
As far as X-factor lead singles go...this isn't up there with Alex's 'Bad Boys', JLS' 'Beat Again' or Olly Murs' sensational Summer anthem 'Please Don't Let Me Go'. Entitled 'Swagger Jagger'...it lacks Cher's notorious swag and by this I mean her irritating 'I don't care' attitude and as a result it certainly lacks jag staying briefly in my mind due to its undeniable likeness to 'Oh My Darling Clementine'.
Love her or hate her, I enjoyed the sometimes red-headed starlet whilst appearing on the X-factor for the very fact that she brought some fresh blood to the show breathing new life with mash-ups, tightly choreographed routines and songs that would never ever have been heard on the talent show in a billion years.
Heatworld.com implied the track wasn't up to much, "sounding a bit like a nursery rhyme with a rap bit in it." Whilst one user commented on rickey.org posting "I thought Rebecca Black was bad..." Oh DAYUM! I will of course remain cynical until the full HQ version has been heard by yours truly.
Cher premiered the snippet on line following a full leak demo version of the track earlier yesterday. Cher's as yet untitled debut album is scheduled for release September 2011.
