Melody Thornton took to the stage tonight on the first live showdown of Popstar to Operastar competing as one of eight pop performers who attempt to take on Operatic classics! The former Pussycat Doll seductively performed French piece Habanera from Carmen receiving excellent comments and feedback from the judges with one even claiming Thornton was the sexiest person on the planet!
Melody definitely commanded the stage in presence, her dazzling one shoulder mulberry dress and of course her phenomenal vocals. Melody tweeted pictures beforehand including one with 2009's X-factor winner and fellow contestant Joe McElderry. Thornton also took to twitter after the performance to state "Ok finally was able to let out tears after singing opera for the FIRST time ever!!! I love u all!!! Thanks so much for the love guys!"
Love indeed. One fan on pcdworld.co.uk's forum posted "She did great." Whilst another commented via Youtube "She did GREAT for her 1st try. Yay for Mel taming & learning new vocal skills!"
Sadly, Somehow the voting public weren't in agreement and it wasn't enough to secure the Don't Cha singer a place in the competition landing in the sing-off against Midge Ure who was sent home following his lifeless performance. Thank God.
Hopefully Mel will come back stronger than ever!
