Swizzle Fashion Show Sneak Peeks!

Hello Cherrubs! I apologize for the light posting week--I'm in the final days of putting together an exhibition and fashion show: Kitschmas! I've been buzzing between studios, rehearsals and shopping trips that are more like a scavanger hunts. (Never imagined half a dozen pairs of seamed stockings would be so difficult to score!)

Here are a few sneaky peeps of the fashion show my mum and I are working on! "Swizzle: A vintage cocktail inspired runway showcase"!

The event poster, designed by my lovely and talented friend Kelly.

Custom bubble jewelry!

This is exactly what it looks like--making giant limes. :}

A peep at the beginnings of the "Dirty Martini"

Fat Mew, skulking around the studio.

Vintage pumps and berry colored brocade!

Stuffed strawberry soon to adorn a pink sorbet muff!

I can't wait to post pictures of the show--Wish us luck!

DIY Dream Flags

Hello Rosehips! This is the story of a bag of rags that met a fairy-godcrafter and became a string of dream flags:

A big bag of shimmery scraps--a gift from my Mum.

Snip snip here, snip snip there--

A few soft crescent moons in acrylic...

Stitch it up with silvery thread--

I hung the beauteous shimmery flags above my bed.
Perhaps I'll cover the whole ceiling?
I enjoy the way they flutter when you walk through the room.

I just love happy endings. :}

What kind of magic have you been making?

Taggy ball thing

I made three of these. One for my nephew, one for my next door Windsor Deli neighbours new baby boy, and one for my godson. I thought they were such a cute Christmas present!

Some of the material is from other clothing that I have made for all of them as gifts.

Coasting around

What do you do when friends invite you over for a Christmas Eve drink and you want to take a small gift for the lady of the house?

Whip up some coasters of course!

I got the basic idea from this talented lady and then added my own creative slant on them!

I made 6 per pack. 4 is just never enough for coasters and I made sure they were strong enough to be thrown in the bra bags and into the

Table Runner

For Christmas I was sent a big pile of already cut, square shaped material. All different colours and patterns and some were Christmas themed. So I seperated them with the idea of making a table runner, ready for Christmas day.

So I knew the basic idea. Sew all the squares together in a 4x12 rectangle. But I got stuck on the quilting part. No book that I had showed how to do it

Egg cup Pincushions

I love it when I find such a cool idea when I am "blog-surfing!" I found this from the Sometimes Crafter who did a tutorial on this website.

Alan found these eggcup holders at the Op Shop and they have been sitting in the cupboard and FINALLY today with the deli being closed I was able to stop and sew for a change. So here is what I made.

My sister-in-laws birthday is on Thursday and I have

Today....

What did you do today?

For me today is the busiest day of the week. It is Saturday. The day when Alan and I are really busy at the deli because everyone loves to come in for breakfasts, newspapers, bacon, milk, chocolate chip cookies and especially brownies.

What else did I do today?

Take a look.

My first twitter-swap

Wolf and Willow owner Nancy Wood was calling out for "Anne of Green Gables" book for Pip Lincolns book club and I have just finished reading it so I was able to answer the call for the book!

In return, I asked Nancy for "sewing" or "crafting" books and got sent THREE different books instead! How lucky am I?

So with books in hand I have made this so far......

It is a reversable bag!! I

Zorg the Alien

Meet Zorg.

Zorg was born on the 27th August.

He comes from the planet Saffer. Zorg has 6 buttons to represent the six planets he has lived on. He flew here in a Tupperware Bowl.

He is very friendly.

He comes from the book Fleecie Dolls by Fiona Goble.

He is friends with Alphie the Comforter.

And this is Zorg on my first Granny (huge) Square. I used a full ball of wool to practise. :)

Alphie the Comforter and Branston the Curious

I love days off! I get to listen to wicked 80s music on my computer, go on facebook and twitter then go out to eat. Then I got to come home and whip this up!

I am an Aunty to a gorgeous little niece, Casey and also a nephew, Nathan. "Alphie the Comforter" was made from Fleecie Dolls by Fiona Goble and was nice and easy for someone like me who is learning to sew! He is sitting in a piece of

Doris the Owl

This is Doris. Doris is about 30 minutes old. I made Doris on my day off today. How cute!!

She is from the book More Softies by Meg Leder. It is a nice and easy to follow book and has some fantastic ideas. I have done a few of the softies from it now. I know that this is not a cooking book or foodie book, but it is a beautifully crafted book.
Now, before I get too far into these creative
