Liverpudlian hairdresser Marcus Collins shot to fame on this year's 8th series of the X-Factor missing out on the top prize by landing in second place following Little Mix's victory, but when it comes to the style trophy Marcus has no competition.
The 23 year old Southport College student kicked off the live shows with 'Moves Like Jagger', 'Russian Roulette', 'Are You Gonna Go My Way' and 'Superstition/Need You Tonight' donning a rebellious, edgy and slightly Gothic look that suited him to the T. Tight fitting leather pants, oversized and often ripped vests were the norm, complete with more spiked accessories than Rihanna's guest bedroom.
After the sex pistol stage, Marcus found the color blocking trend in the form of slick tapered suits in both turquoise and the striking pink of the Versace for H&M variety including matching Versace shirt and shoes to complete the look. Performing tracks 'Reet Petite' and 'Another One Bites the Dust' before Bruno Mars came on the scene and changed it all
.
Following the Billionaire singer's appearance on the show, Collins found a 1950s, jazz swing influence adopting all things tweed, bow-tied, checked and horn-rimmed specs. Most noticeable in his performance of Outcast's 'Hey Ya!' on Saturday's live final held in Wembley arena. Even managing to outshine the king of tweed himself Gary Barlow looking slicker than your average.
In a recent blog post for Digital Spy, X-Factor head stylist Laury Smith commented "Marcus is my fashion boy...His era is the '50s, that whole Little Richard vibe blended with a bit of modern day Bruno Mars. He's so petite that he can carry off some really 'out there' looks but I think he really loves the sharp tailoring and bow ties."
Marcus Collins previously enjoyed a small amount of success as a member of former X-Factor series 3 boyband Eton Road, joining the group after the show following the departure of the group's lead singer. Collins was brought in as his replacement. Marcus Collins is set to tour in 2012 when the X-Factor tour kicks off across the UK.
