Possibly one of 2012's most anticipated films aside from Nolan's closing Batman installment and the Twilight Saga's final epic, J R R Tolkien's Lord of the Ring's prequel The Hobbit premiered its first teaser trailer earlier today.
The trailer for the first installment of the two part Hobbit film entitled The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey documents Bilbo Baggins (Ian Holm) of the LOTR's trilogy telling our boy Elijah Wood (aka Frodo Baggins) of his outer Shire travels as a young Hobbit and of course how he came to possess the one ring. P.s if I ever find a gold elfish engraved ring at any point in my life I will probably just choke myself to death there and then. That or drop and roll. Either way I won't be picking the damn thing up any time soon.
The clip also shows Sir Ian McKellan reprising his role as Gandalf the Grey introducing a young Bilbo to a team of Dwarves who set out to regain their treasure from a Dragon named Smaug in the Misty Mountains. Also making his return is the sinister cave creature Gollum (Andy Serkis). The film will also feature Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom and Christopher Lee among other LOTR veterans. All in all its shaping up to look like a pretty awesome film. Martin Freeman stars as a young Bilbo.
The Hobbit is set to hit the big screen December 13 2012. The Hobbit: To There and Back will follow on December 14 2013. Both are directed by Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson.
