Held at Wembley Arena, London, this year's X-Factor finals came to a sensational close as girl-group Little Mix was named the act to walk away with the million pound record contract and this year's X-Factor winners. The Saturdays better watch their backs...there's a new UK girl band in town ready to steal their crown.
Breaking the X-Factor girl-band and group curse simultaneously by walking away with the title, Little Mix shone each week, growing as artists and as a group in the process performing mash-ups, dance breaks, the odd rap thrown in here and there oh and that one ballad, the girls are more than worthy of their new claim to fame.
Mentored by N-Dubz' Tulisa Contostavlos, Jesy, Jade, Perrie and Leigh-Anne performed an amazing Alicia Keys medley alongside their X-Factor judge on the Saturday night show which saw Amelia Lily bowing out gracefully with the least amount of votes from the UK public. Leaving Gary and Tulisa to go head to head as their acts Marcus Collins and Little Mix took to the stage for a last ditch attempt at being crowned this year's X-Factor champs.
Marcus, althought being phenomenal in his own right, failed to deliver on his version of Wham hit 'Last Christmas' nor did he pull out all the stops when it came to his performance of the X-Factor winner's single. The Damien Rice cover 'Cannonball'. Something Little Mix pulled off effortlessly, even landing a perfect acapella rendition of 'Silent Night' beforehand. In other words it was over about 30 minutes before the results were in.
Westlife, Coldplay, Leona Lewis, Michael Buble, One Direction and JLS also performed on this weekend's X-Factor final held at Wembley Arena. You can catch all the performances and more online at the X-Factor's official site via ITV.com. Little Mix's debut single 'Cannonball' is now available to download via Itunes. And that's that folks. Til next year.
Until then, take a look at Little Mix in what I believe was their best performance and my fav of the series back in Halloween taking on the Katy Perry track 'ET' in the clip below.
