Finally...its only taken 8 episodes, but Fox's hit show Glee has got its mojo back and one of its male leads, Sam (Chord Overstreet) aka Trouty Mouth as an added bonus.
The new episode, which aired last night in the US, entitled 'Hold On To Sixteen' saw McKinley High's New Directions and newly formed all girl glee troupe The Troubletones (Mercedes, Santana and Brittany) go head to head for the top prize at Sectionals.
The Troubletones have been extremely consistent with their performances throughout the series performing epic worthy mash-ups featuring some phenomenal vocals by leads played by Amber Riley and Nava Rivera including 'Survivor/I Will Surivive' in silver metallic frocks. Losing out in the end to the re-energised reigning champs that are our New Directions.
Finally gelling once again, minus one Rachel Berry (Lea Michelle), New Directions took on a direct approach of the shared vocal variety performing a sensational Michael Jackson medley including 'ABC' and 'Man In The Mirror.
Amidst all the singing and stunning performances, the episode also featured the interesting dynamic of Mercedes and Sam, a Rachel/Quinn friendship, Daddy Chang's acceptance of his son Mike Chang's dance ability and the 'destructive force in the Universe' that is Quinn and her fantastically evil scheming. Oh and for those of the Trouty mouth fan club...you get to see the Overstreet abs once again.
One can only hope the remaining season plays out as good as this episode, but as previous seasons have shown that may not be the case. Fingers crossed for a second half season run with just as much impact as this episode has shown.
Glee Season 3 episode 8 'Hold On To Sixteen' airs here in the UK on Thursday over on Sky. Take a look at the New Directions in action in the episode trailer below.
