savoring summer

To enhance your enjoyment of this last hurrah of summer...Here is a recipe for mojitos (found here).





Mojito

Ingredients

• Ice
• 6 ounces light rum
• 12 mint sprigs, or spearmint, 8 roughly broken apart
• 6 tablespoons fresh lime juice
• 4 tablespoons sugar
• Club soda
• 4 slices lime

Directions

Place ice in beverage shaker then add in the rum, 8 broken up mint sprigs, lime juice and sugar. Shake well and serve over ice in a high ball glass. Top off each glass with a splash of club soda.

Garnish each with a slice of lime and a sprig of mint

Open Letter to Phantom Masking Tape Centipede

Dear Piece of Masking Tape on my bedroom ceiling,



Please stop casting a spooky shadow that upon groggily waking, appears not to be tape, but really a centipede stalking me while I sleep. If you must cast shadows, choose a shape less vulgar: like a nice stick of spearmint gum or perhaps a pair of wool socks.



My nerves would much appreciate it.

Check out these new pictures of Miley Cyrus at the 2011 MTV VMA's on the red carpet. She was wearing a long backless dress with an interesting floral print design. I think the dress is very cool and looks great on Miley. She always seems to impress on the red carpet.

What possible reason could there be that Superman just happens to have punch-card profiles of every eligible bachelor in Metropolis? After all, it's not like he even has any formidable female rogues, where a precaution like this would actually make sense.

I have taken so many photos of France-- I could post SO many here.

It was a magical time and wonderful place to paint.

The two women here-- are artists from India- that came to the worksop.

I remember when I first saw this image, years ago, in Martha Stewart Weddings, I just loved it. The pink-mauve silk satin bow and the lush flowers are so romantic. This wedding gown reminds me of a ballerina's tutu. So pretty! Not to mention, the sash would be easy to make, if you'd want to add one to a dress.

Video Zen: Cherry Blossoms

Hello Starshine! This clip of video zen was taken several years ago while on a trip to D.C. It was early in the spring, and I was excited to see the famous cherry blossoms that lined the river. To my dismay, the trees weren't in bloom. We walked for what felt like hours after being on a train on-and-off for days and finally found the single blooming cherry tree in the city. I was thrilled--I took a pile of pictures, and this clip of the swaying branches before taking a nap beneath it in the grass. Enjoy!

X-Factor Week Two

London speed up...Liverpool rock it! X-Factor hit up the home of last year's runner-up Rebecca Ferguson this week for the first time ever gracing the shores of Liverpool in the hopes to find some talent and surprisingly enough they managed to do just that.





Gone are the Frankies, the Kittys and the Goldie Cheungs...in their place are The Keys, an on-point vocal harmony man-group with some rapping skills on the side, Craig Colton, Joseph Castle, Derry, and Jennifer Hudson look and sound-alike 19 year old Misha who blew it out of the park with R.E.S.P.E.C.T with a twist.





New judge Kelly Rowland more than shone in the new episode letting her colorful personality take centre stage.

Carnival rides were so much cooler back in the day

So if you delve a little further into Action Comics #282, you can see exactly what Superman was up to with the frozen dinosaur from yesterday's post.





What better way to teach kids about their natural history, than to have them memorize the names of dinosaurs while riding those actual dinosaurs! Just like the cavemen used to!



Although, let's keep this panel between you and me. We don't need the Discovery Institute getting wind of this one, and adding another "scientific fact" to their young earth creationist agenda.
