Its three for the price of one this Friday as Beyonce, Rihanna and Leona Lewis all debuted their new music videos in a fight for diva domination...so which one came out on top you ask? Not a single one.
All seem to fail in terms of inspiration, originality or creativity lacking any major storyline, direction, build up or climax. It all just falls rather flat.
If I had to pick one I hated the least it would be Beyonce and her emotionally raw vocal '1+1' in which B, following her top 3 hit 'Best Thing I Never Had', decides not to get up off her seat once again and just let her natural beauty and star quality do the talking. It works of course, but is all a bit dull. Its nice yes, but that's it. Nice. Not overwhelming. Just nice. Then she gets some water thrown on her and a wind machine in her face. NEXT!
Having checked out of Beyonce's walk-in shower, we arrive at RiRi's Loud tour where she is drinking to the weekend for her fifth single 'Cheers' which samples Avril Lavigne's 'I'm With You' who appears in the video for all of two seconds. Complete waste. Tour footage...two words that ruin any release of any single. Rihanna and Avril getting pissed on the town...now that's a music video.
After two disappointments it never occurred to me that things could get much worse...then along came Leona Lewis and her visual for comeback track 'Collide'. I'd like something to crash into you Leona...and its an Iceland truck packed with frozen cheesecake and duck spring rolls. I'd prefer to watch ANY Iceland advert than this rubbish. Note the 'Avici' tag added to the X-Factor winner's track...looks like someone lost their plagiarism battle.
Take a look at all three let downs below and decide for yourself. I'm off to shoot a music video in my alleyway with nothing but some pritt stick and a bag of trash. All seem to fail in terms of inspiration, originality or creativity lacking any major storyline, direction, build up or climax. It all just falls rather flat.
