X-Factor Week Eight: Live Shows

Eight weeks of auditions, bootcamps and Judges Houses the UK's biggest search for undiscovered talent has finally reached the Live Show stage as Kelly, Tulisa, Louis and Gary put forward all 16 acts for the first public vote.

Oh wait there was that Big Twist we all knew was coming and found out about a few days before the first show. In a bootcampesque shake-up, the judges will all send home one contestant from their own category saving the remaining 12 who will advance into next week's first public vote. The pressure is most definitely on.

Which brings us to our first judge, more than a little bit insane Irishman Louis Walsh. He's nuts, pure and simple. Jonny and Samantha looked like drag queens singing karaoke whilst JonJo simply looked like he was doing karaoke...and rather poorly. Then there is Kitty. God we were hoping for some excitement but it appears the cat's got her tongue this week as she retreated into that crazy head trauma of hers failing to hit the notes on The Queen Classic 'Who Wants To Live Forever'.

Next up, Gary and the Boys. Frankie underwhelmed and looked like an extra in an old-school vampire flick. James Michael let his vocals do the talking as he played his guitar on a stoop to a Beatles hit. Standout performances had to be the phenomenal Marcus performing Moves Like Jagger whilst fellow Liverpool native Craig has been shedding the weight in a bid for stardom blowing the judges away with a heart wrenching rendition of Jar of Hearts. As for Gary's judging ability, yes it may have been harsh at times but it was honest, realistic and with creative growth in mind.

Now to Kelly Rowland who must have got some styling tips from Louis as she wore an Irish Dance ensemble with two battered onion rings in her ears. The former Destiny's Child star did make up for the awful styling with her grade A advice 'Putting it DOWN'. Speaking of awful styling what the hell did they do to Amelia's wonderful platinum blond hair? They turned it pink that's what! As for the phenomenal Mischa B who took on Adele's Rolling In The Deep and killed it, putting in her own additional rap. Say it with me 1,2,3 Mischa B! Send her stylist home though as she looked like the Queen of Hearts of Alice In Wonderland Fame. The only person who really suited their make-over was Sophie Habibas who looked stunning as she soared her way through an acoustic version of Katy Perry's Teenage Dream. As for Janet Devlin...could they have made her look anymore Irish?

And finally we come to Tulisa and her groups, who showed her feisty side tonight as she took on both Gary and Kelly when they questioned her acts performances. We would not want to be in that fight. So how did the groups fair you ask? Rhythmix 'put it down' giving what Gary called the best girl group performance to have ever graced the X-Factor and we totally agree Gazza. Nu Vibe had the moves but need to work on the harmonies. The Risk definitely paid off but Two Shoes had to be the joke of the night. Notes were off. Styling was terrible. Production was worse. Sheila's wheels anyone?

Tune in to ITV tonight at 8pm to see which four the judges will send home. Our money is on Kitty, Frankie, Two Shoes and Amelia. Matt Cardle and Cee Lo Green perform.
