Terra Nova. New Earth in Latin. Bloody fantastic show in English. Plus, its Spielberg produced to boot.
Created by British writer Kelly Marcel, the show starts out in the year 2149 in an apocalyptic future where human life is on the verge of annihilation through pollution, widespread disease, global air contamination and overpopulation. Following the discovery of a 'rift' in the space-time continuum, scientists launch a mission to secure human life by launching a colony in the Cretaceous Period, 85 Million years in the past.
Don't worry folks, its 85 Million years in the past in a different time line, thus avoiding any possible future problems aka John Connor Terminator paradoxes. Thank God.

Our story focuses on the life of the Shannon Family. Father and former Cop Jim Shannon (Jason O'Mara), Mother and Doctor Elisabeth (Shelley Conn), son Josh and daughter's Maddy and youngest Zoe (whom Jim was sent to prison for as a result of breaking the population laws.)
Once Jim escapes his incarceration, with some help from loving wife Elisabeth, the Shannon family make a break for a new start in the Terra Nova human colony only to find it may not be as easy as they had previously thought.
What's great about Spielberg's Terra Nova is that its basically about a family who just happen to travel to the past and live alongside dinosaurs in a human camp. The dinosaurs take a back seat and merely serve to provide an element of spontaneity and an unpredictable edge to the drama and issues created by the characters on screen.
We also have the sinister Sixes, a separate colony who broke away from TN camp with a hidden agenda of their own. Add that to mix along with mysterious symbols carved into rocks around the perimeter and you have yourself your very own Lost meets Jurassic Park with a dash of Avatar set in the beautiful surroundings of Australia.
Oh and speaking of Avatar, bad guy Stephen Lang stars as Commander Nathanial Taylor the leader of the human settlement. 'Your on Pandora now' oops we meant Terra Nova.
