As all you Gleeks out there know, Glee is back on the US screens for Season Three and now in its third episode, the hit Fox show seems to have found its mojo once again.
Entitled 'Asian F' (that's an A- btw), the new episode, which aired last night in the US, showcased a Mike Chang (Harry Schum Jnr) centric episode alongside some much needed Mercedes Jones (Amber Riley) drama. With a little Jennifer Hudson/Dreamgirls inspiration thrown in for good measure.
Thank God. Episode 1 and 2 have been a bit on the boring side focusing on Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Rachel (Lea Michelle) with former Warbler's lead singer Blaine (Darren Criss) becoming rather dull and overlooked in the process.
The decision to drop a few Glee Clubbers here and there and focus on the more lesser used gems was a wise and crucial decision. What with Glee stars Lea Michelle, Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith who plays Finn Hudson all bowing out as the curtain closes on the three hopeful stars for a final time next spring as the characters graduate and seek solo stardom.
Its back to basics for Glee then focusing on character development rather than on Sectionals or Regionals. Yes that's the end goal but its not about getting to Sectionals or Regionals or even Nationals. Its about the kids at the end of the day who just happen to be in a Glee club hoping to compete at the National level.
Asian F saw the return of the performance driven, emotional drama and hilarity to the forefront and what a welcome return it was.
'Asian F' was written by Ian Brennan and was directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon featuring songs by Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce, Coldplay and the cast of Fame.
P.s. Dancing Asian now sings and he talks a bit too! Triple threat!
P.p.s. Brittany S. Peers performs Run The World (Girls) in a bid for student presidency.
Take a look at her performance below.
