a dose of color & pattern

We are having some pretty wicked weather here this weekend. The gloom of rain, wind, and grey skies are making me feel the need for a little cheering up. What better way to lift one's spirits than with a dose of color and pattern? I feel better already. Now, let's pour a drink and see if we have any volunteers to play that lovely piano.

pink loves orange

Normally, I'm not one to pair two intense colors, like this. I'm usually into more subtle colors. But, a few weeks ago, I found an old photo of myself, as a teenager, wearing this fun A-line dress, which I had designed and made. I was into 1960s fashion, at the time, and I felt that pink and orange was the most fabulous color combination ever. Pink and orange together certainly looks zingy and cute, and it seems quite perfect for autumn.

loom rugs

I came across Australian company loom rugs on another blog recently. When I visited their site, I completely fell in love with their gorgeous range of rugs. From the subtle over-dyed vintage rugs to the elegant contemporary designs to the bold patterns of traditional rugs, I was thoroughly impressed. And their site has such a great simple look. It is a pleasure to view and to navigate.
