Living Room Tour

Welcome to my living room!

I think this room reflects who I am, I love the bright and airy feel in it.

This is the living room view from the dining area:

I found the rug on overstock

The wicker box (from IKEA) holds all the downstairs toys

I have a IKEA ektorp sofa and loveseat.

(we have had leather sofas and microfiber sofas, I have to say I prefer the slip covered sofas)

I have gray and white slip covers. I prefer the white covers.

People ask me what I do when it gets a stain, I just take off the slip cover and throw it in the wash. No big deal. I haven't had to use bleach yet.

My "console" table is a bookshelf from IKEA and was only $69.99.

I bought the black IKEA mirrors and painted them white

I love the little birds. I found these at Michael's

I found the tray at a thrift store and just spray painted it white

I found the lit branches at the CRAFT warehouse.

They were from the Christmas collection and I got them for 50% off the regular price :)

I don't like that the entry is right into the living room, but what can I do, its a small house.

I bought this "pleather" ottoman online at Target a few years back, I have been wanting to reupholster it for a while now, but have not found the right fabric. I have brought home samples, but everything seems to clash with the rug, So I will keep looking.

My lamps are from Target

I found a round tray at a thrift store and spray painted it and hot glued ribbon and rhinestones on it.

I sewed my own pillow cases to go over all of my old pillows.

I bought these wicker chairs about 7 years ago when we just got married (I don't remember where)

But I love them, they hold a sentimental value to me.

Our Half Bath

Today you get to take a peek into our down stairs half bath

I am really pleased with the outcome, considering that it took us only 2 days to pull it together.

We spent $500 on this update. More then I wanted to spend, but you should see the before, the whole thing had to go!

Here is the before

Huge vanity, big old mirror, wooden towel rod, wooden toilet paper holder

(oh yeah, this house had wooden toilet seats when we moved in, that was the first thing we replaced. LOL, It just didn't seem sanitary)

Gosh, I hated this bathroom!

I was going to just paint the vanity, but I could not find a counter/sink in this size

Then we thought about tiling the counter, but that seemed like to much work.

So we decided to rip it all out

The vanity was $129 at IKEA

The sink/counter was $100 at IKEA

I fell in love with the vintage inspired faucet at IKEA, which was $69.99

I used left over paint for the walls

I used this FREE template for the stenciling

I saw this Martha Stewart light fixture long before we started working on this bathroom, I just fell in love with it and I knew right away that I wanted to use it in my bathrooms

Our Dining Area

Welcome to our dining area

We don't have a huge house, so we do not actually have a formal dining room.

Which I love, since a fancy dining room would be a waste of space,

because we don't have fancy dinner parties.

My daughter plays at the dining table (usually on it) while I prep dinner.

I love how open it is to the kitchen.

I bought my table, chairs and bench at IKEA

It expands, so it is perfect for lots of family and friends

The chandelier is from overstock, and I have to say.. I LOVE it. I am so glad I found this and didn't settle on something from home depot.

Where the kitchen and dining area meet

(I still need to find some stools. I am thinking metal stools... hmmm..)

The curtains are from IKEA

They come 96 inches long,

I just hemmed them and created loops on the top to get this neat look:

Kitchen Tour

Welcome to my kitchen!

I am so excited to share it with you guys, We did all the work ourselves, so we are very proud of it. I still can not believe that it is the same kitchen. Take a look at the before and you will be surprised to.

Our Craft Room

I am constantly crafting, sewing or working on some kind of project. So it made sense that I should have a craft room where I can work and shut the door at the end of the day even if my project is not complete and not worry about cleaning up.

Here is a little sneak peek into my craft room.

It is 90% complete. There are still a few things I need, But I decided to share it anyways.

Before I show you any more, I want you to see the before pictures.

This is the smallest bedroom in our house.

It was our catch-all-room.

OK, enough with the old. Time for the new!

I can not believe how light and airy this room feels now!

I stenciled the wall using this stencil from Etsy.

The tables and chairs were from IKEA

The bookshelf used to be in the nursery, But I had no room for it in the kids room, so I got to keep it in the craft room.

My neighbor was cleaning out her garage and was going to toss this body form.

I was more then happy to take it from her.

A place for the kids to play while mommy is crafting.

The chalkboard is from IKEA, you can see that makeover here.

I still want to get this bookshelf from Ikea to put it in front of the window for some kids toys and more craft things.

I would like a new light fixture.

I just have not found one that I like and I can actually afford.

Plus I need to make some sort of bulletin board to pin my ideas to and current projects to.

Shared Kids Room Tour

Well, I think I am finally done with this room. For now at least :)

Let me tell you a little bit about this room. This was the office/bonus room located right next to the master bedroom.

I love this room because it gets lots of light all day long and it is one of the biggest rooms (excluding the master).

In order for us to have an office, we had to put the kids in one room. I know some people are against boys/girls sharing rooms, But I don't see it as a problem since they are still very young.

Since this room was a bonus room, it did not have a closet. That wasn't a problem, I just went and picked up a nice sized wardrobe from IKEA.

I wish all rooms had wardrobes, that way you can move it up against any wall you want and get the wardrobe of any size you want.

So after moving the furniture around, I came up with an arrangement which seems to work.

This room used to be light brown (I forgot to take before pics)

I chose to paint it Manhattan Mist by Behr.

I chose a neutral paint color so it would go for both the boy and girl and I would still be able to use lots of bright pops of color throughout the whole room.

So lets go take a look:

Laminate floors were installed in here by the previous owner

The shaggy rug is from Target and is nice and soft to sit and play on

The left side of the room has both of the beds

The bedding is from Target

(I bought it before my son was born last year, so they no longer carry it)

My daughter's bed is from IKEA, they no longer carry this one.

My sons crib is from Babies R US

Some toys are stored under the bed

This is on your right as you walk in

The changing table and the dresser are from IKEA

4 bins full of toys on the lower shelves of the changing table

The wardrobe:

First shelf is more cloth diapering/baby things and the rest are more toys (sigh)

I already took a carload of toys to goodwill, there is still to much

Closet:

most of the clothes are folded in the dresser, however, some clothes and coats are here.

Shoes, diaper bag and hats/mittens are on the lower shelves

The window is nice and big with lots of light which is why I love this room so much!

The curtain panels are from Target

I needed a place for the books, so this bench/shelf from Target works great.

The kids can sit and look out the window and it serves a purpose to store books

The dresser is from IKEA

The lamp is from Target

And off course a little girl needs her bows and ribbons

The mirror is thrifted (I just spray painted it white)

The shelf was thrifted and spray painted white, it is

above my daughters bed, and keeps her water bottle next to her during the night since there is no room for a nightstand

I bought this curtain wire from IKEA, so I can easily change out artwork and photos

Since this was a office, the door is glass. Which I love for the kids room, because even with the door shut, I can still keep an eye on them.
