Quick Dinner: Hot Dogs Italian Style
We usually never eat hot dogs, probably once or twice during summer. But hot dogs are acctually one of the foods Emily likes, So I think this recipe will become a staple in our weekly meals.
Our friends introduced us to this. Yummo, so fast and easy to make and very filling.
I am definitely going to be making this in the summer with grilling the hot dogs and veggies.
I used beef hot dogs this time, but next time I want to try the turkey ones.
For us three (Denis, Emily and me) I only needed 3 hot dogs, one large potato, one green bell pepper, one onion.
-Wash potato and thinly slice. Toss in a bowl with 1 tb oil, salt, pepper and paprika.
-In a skillet heat some vegetable oil, saute the potatoes, stirring often.
- Meanwhile (while the potatoes are cooking) Slice the bell pepper and onion and toss with 1 TB oil, salt, pepper, and paprika.
-Once the potatoes are done, add the bell peppers and onions right into the skillet with the potatoes and saute for about 3-5 min. The veggies should still be tender.
-I used hoagie rolls (traditionally you are supposed to use Italian bread) I heated up the rolls on a skillet, and the hot dogs in the microwave. Then I just piled the veggie mixture and the hot dog on the hoagie roll, add ketchup/mayo/mustard if you want.
