ALESSANDRA AMBROSIO

Alessandra Corine Ambrósio (born April 11, 1981) is a Brazilian model. Her last name is spelled Ambrósio, but the diacritic mark is omitted in her modeling work. Ambrósio, described by Tyra Banks as "The future of the modeling world", is best known for her work with Victoria's Secret and was chosen as their first spokesmodel for Victoria's Secret PINK line. Ambrósio is currently one of Victoria's Secret Angels and the former face for the UK company Next. Aside from modeling work, Ambrósio represents as the National Ambassador for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Ambrosio was also selected by AskMen.com as Number 2 out of the "Top 99 Most Desirable Women of 2008".

SKYE STRACKE

Skye Stracke (Born December 4, 1990) is an Australian fashion model from Perth, Western Australia. Before being discovered, she had wanted to be a makeup artist. She was discovered after winning a modeling competition at Vivien's, an Australian modeling agency, and then walking in Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, where she was scouted by DNA modeling agency. She moved to New York City on January 9, 2008 to further her modeling career. She is now based in New York City. She says she has had to adapt to the more formal, classical style of New York City, that she uses Yves Saint Laurent (brand) makeup, and makes sure to get a good night's sleep. She has walked in shows for Chanel, Christian Lacroix, Nina Ricci (brand), and Missoni, among others, and has shot editorials for American and Russian Vogue (magazine). She was recently featured in a Lacoste campaign, and even more recently shot an editorial for German Tush Magazine.

SPLENDID

Yes, splendor is the word that comes to my mind when I look at these polymer clay journals. You find them at sunhawk.etsy.com.

Happy New Year!

Full Moon Dream Board: Clarity

Merry Full Moon, Kittens!*

Such a strange and delightful treat to have two full moons in one December! This cycle, my Blue Moon dreamboard is intended for Clarity.

Let the wiggliness of the guts be replaced with calmness in the bones. Let the scattered bits of brain coalesce into a kaleidoscopes clear pattern. Let the long "Uuuuuhs...." be swapped for a euphoric "Ah HA!". May the caterwompessness to coached into Clarity.

May each of you find a moment on this New Year's Eve to howl at the Moon in your sequined dress and party shoes! I'll be toasting her too. :)

Until Next Time--

Much Joy and Merry Making!

Getting Ready- Schmidt Center for Art

I have been invited to show my GROWTH PORTRAIT series at the Who's Looking at You: Contemporary Portraits at the Schmidt Center for Art at the Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville, IL.

The show opens on January 21, 2010.

I have to deliver the 23 portraits of my son Evan next Tuesday.

I thought today would be a good day to clean up the portraits to get them ready.

It took all day -- and gave me time to reflect and reconsider each and every portrait! My how time flies when you watch a child grow!

So.. here is a photo of my studio- scattered with 30 x 40 portraits that will be stacked and packaged for delivery on Tuesday

New Years Revolution

Hello Cupcakes!*

The snow is snowin', the Moon is growin' and it's WishCasting Wednesday! This week our Wishtress Jamie asks us, what do you wish for 2010?

I wish to be more Adventurous.

Amelia Earhart

Anna and I made a joint resolution this year--more like a joint REVOLUTION--to be daring! I wish to say how I really feel, paint what I really mean, wear whatever the hell I want and just get out there and DO IT. I have some fascinating opportunities popping up around me--one of the many blessings that come about when you surround yourself with creative sweeties and the occasional weirdo--and I don't want to be too afraid to take a big juicy bite out of it! In 2010 I'm pitching fear to the wind for a party-like-a-rock-star year full of Soul, discovery and giggle-snort inducing "Hey- remember-that-one-time" stories.

2010, I'll show you my swagger.

Our Blue Moon is almost full, dearies! And that in itself is squeal worthy: Wish big! Wish Bold!

What do you wish for?

Camwhoring

Decided to put on some blusher, lipstick, and dot some fake freckles on to camwhore with the new camera!!

Three pictures only lah... I think not bad though! I like my L10 more now! Please stop saying shit about it!

Think the fake freckles a bit fail but still, must try new things!!!

Lower lashes are drawn on (except in last picture, forgot to put), top lashes are extensions. Not wearing contacts. Photoshopped brown. And yes I know the left eye's lashes are drooping. I need to get them fixed!

Off to play mahjong! :D

ICY

Lynn (UnaOdd.etsy.com) has many beautiful rustic polymer clay pendants and other jewelry items in her shop. The most recent additions are these original necklaces made with faceted "icy" polymer clay crystals.

This is how the artist described them: Polymer clay is formed into irregularly faceted crystal forms. After faceting, the crystals are gently buffed to soften the edges for design and for comfort.

Interesting idea and lovely design, isn't it?

Two New/One Finished- Acrylics

I have had no time in the studio this week -- as I am moving my house from one neighborhood to another. At times it's overwhelming -- but I am almost done!

I will probably be totally moved just in time to return back to teaching this semester~

Anyway, here are two paintings that I've started. They are in the first state -- so you can see preliminary sketch.

The last one- the newspaper stand -- is completely done. I added some small red particles to finish off a shadow- which totally pops and vibrates. I am happy.

So.. my blog friends... I will take another break from studio work and settle in my new home. I will return to the studio when the dust settles!

Thanks to everyone who have helped me move. I appreciate your help! An especially big "thank you" to Evan :-))..
